  Published as a student contribution under INK & ECHO – The English Literary Club @ SAC , as part of the Teachers’ Day creative writing activity. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಗುರು-ಶಿಷ್ಯರ’ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಾನವಿದೆ. “ಮಾತೃದೇವೋಭವ, ಪಿತೃದೇವೋಭವ, ಆಚಾರ್ಯದೇವೋಭವ” ಎಂಬ ಉಕ್ತಿಯು ತಂದೆ-ತಾಯಿಯ ನಂತರದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ: ಭಾರತದ ಎರಡನೇ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ, ಮಹಾನ್ ತತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನಿ, ಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಡಾ. ಸರ್ವಪಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಧಾಕೃಷ್ಣನ್ ಅವರ ಜನ್ಮದಿನದ ನೆನಪಿಗಾಗಿ ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಡಾ. ರಾಧಾಕೃಷ್ಣನ್ ಅವರು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಅಪಾರ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಲು 1962ರಿಂದ ಅವರ ಜನ್ಮದಿನವನ್ನು ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯ ಆಚರಣೆ: ನಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ನೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಿಗೂ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೋರುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೂವುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಉಡುಗೊರೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ಆಟಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡಿಸಿ ಬಹುಮಾನ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಒಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ವಿಷಯ ಏನೆಂದರೆ, ಶಿ...

  Inauguration of INK & ECHO – English Literary Club The Department of English, Sahyadri Arts College, Shivamogga , inaugurated its English Literary Club, INK & ECHO , on 31 August 2026 . The club aims to provide students with a vibrant platform to explore English through literature, creative writing, public speaking, debate and performance . The inauguration was marked by an inspiring address by the Principal, Dr. Siraj Ahamed S. , who encouraged students to find their voice and express their thoughts with confidence. He emphasised that what students read, write and speak should find its echo in their lives and surroundings . His words motivated students to actively participate in literary and creative activities. As an initiating activity, a small extempore session was organised to encourage students to speak spontaneously, overcome hesitation and develop confidence in public speaking.   Vocabulary Tree – A Word a Day As part of our efforts to build a strong culture of reading, learning and using new words , the Department of English has initiated a simple yet engaging activity called the “Vocab Tree.” The idea is to learn one new word every day and explore the different ways in which the word can be used The activity encourages students to go beyond simply memorising vocabulary. By exploring the different forms and meanings of a word, students gradually develop a richer vocabulary and a better understanding of how words function in different contexts. The Vocabulary Tree is a small daily practice with a larger purpose — one word at a time, growing confidence in language. 🌱📚 Learn a word. Explore its possibilities. Let your vocabulary grow!

  One Day Special Lecture  A special lecture was organised on 24 August   2026 for the students of the Department of English as part of the Professor of Practice lecture series. Prof. Subramanya , Kuvempu University  Professor of Practice, addressed the students on the importance of life skills, soft skills and employability skills . In his engaging session, Prof. Subramanya highlighted the need for students to develop effective communication, confidence, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving and interpersonal skills along with academic knowledge. He emphasised that these skills play a vital role in preparing students for higher studies, employment and a competitive professional environment. He encouraged the students to continuously improve their abilities, develop a positive attitude and make themselves industry-ready.
